Day 31: Cozy

My Grandmother's cousin, Orville, was a great spinner and knitter.  This morning while I was working, my feet were freezing, and I remembered this pair of socks that he made for me.  There's nothing like a pair of hand spun and hand knitted wool socks for instant coziness.  Orville was a quiet man with a laugh that made me laugh along.  I didn't know him very well as a child, but when I grew up he always made a point of bringing me along fishing when I was back home in the summers, and I learned to appreciate this kind, funny, gentle man.  How I miss him.

Of course, when I went to take the picture the battery was about to die, and I hadn't charged my spare, so nothing was working right.  Does that happen to anyone else?  I'll have to try again later for one that is in focus and better exposed.  :oP

Oh, but they still look all warm and cozy. My feet are freezing right now! I'm surprised by how many ppl are remembering their loved ones in posts today....what gives? Is the crappy weather making everyone melancholy??

How I love a comfy pair of warm socks! BTW Lynn...the battery thing has happened to me a lot!! When we were in NC on the coast I got up so early to catch the sunrise only to have my batteries die on me! Thankfully there are more sunrises and sunsets!

The weather here is actually glorious, sunny Autumn. But it's cold in the house, and I refuse to turn on the thermostat this early in the season. So on go the socks! But it is true that getting all cozy reminds me of cozy people--which is kinda nice. Renee, do you remember Orville? And the goofy thing about my battery situation is that I have TWO--bought a backup so this wouldn't happen. Course, once must remember to also charge the backup when one gets home, mustn't one. Grk.

Hey, Jane. I'm in *looking at toes and scuffing the dirt* Johnstown. Not that it's a bad place, but I'm used to Vancouver, so it's a bit of a culture shock, and I'm not quite over it even after 7 years!

So how it works is you post the theme, and then the following Wednesday we post a photo on our blog? Love love love...hmn...

Polly: I'm so glad you stopped by! I'm a fairly new at photography, too--although I've dabbled in it for years. Finally I have a decent camera and a teacher, so I'm feeling a bit more confident in what I'm doing, although still overwhelmed by how much I need to learn. Have a great weekend, yourself!

Thanks for stopping by, Le BlOg d'Otli! I keep having moments where I have to roll my eyes at how much I forget important things. Like recharging battery packs. *eye roll here*
