Likeschocolate: In your dresser? LOL We have a LAUNDRY BASKET full. And a couple of months ago I went and threw a bunch out that we'd had for years and knew we'd never match up. Poor socks.
Ian: They're part of the sock underground. Hanging out in slummy joints down by the docks, without legal travel documents, avoiding the coppers. It's a sad, sorry life they lead, really.
fuoriborgo: Good idea! There was a cbc radio personality, Arthur Black, who did a bit about lonely socks, called "The Lonely Socks Club." The jyst of it was that you mailed in your odd socks, and maybe someone else would mail in one like it, and if that was the case, the two parties would have to tell Arthur why THEY were deserving of the pair. The studio was FLOODED with socks. After awhile, he had to tell everyone to PUHLEASE stop. Then had a contest for what to make with the remainders. Some guy ended up using them as upholstery for a couch(it actually looked really cool!), which was then auctioned off for charity. I wish I could find the link--but it was years ago.
Emily: Thanks! I guess I'm just a literal type of person, and don't have it in me to dig particularly deep. I appreciate you stopping by!
Hi Allegria, BTW I LOVE your name!! A very cute post. Isn't it funny how socks can lose their mates in the washer and dryer. LOL... I'm glad you found me. I think there must have been some new members that joined CV and I was sleeping and missed, but never fear I have you listed on the CV blog list. xoxo
Cabrizette: I hope my awol socks and yours are at least having a certain degree of happiness together. ;o)
Joyce: I think it's a conspiracy, really. Between the socks and their manufacturer. I wonder how much they're being paid to take off, knowing that it means that we'll have to go purchase a new pair. hehe. Sneaky little devils...
Nancy: I know. The ones that left I have very little sympathy for, actually. It was their choice, and they must pay the consequences. It's their poor mates lying in my bin that I feel the most sympathy for. They're in a limbo. Do they go try find some other sock to love, or do they wait faithfully for their lost one to return? It's a terrible dilemma, really, poor things. ;o)
Jodi: It's like we have misplaced faith or something! Actually, a couple of months ago, I went through everything and thre away anything that was too small for the kids, or that I hadn't seen in years. Chances are, the matches will come out of the woodwork, just to spite me. :D
Cate: LOL! Now there's a thought. And their matches will be on earth, and so I'll still have an unmatched sock basket! Sigh.
Daan: Now there's an idea! I don't know why we don't do that. Buck the "socks must match" trend. Love it!
La ninja: I think they're doing what Gerry Seinfeld imagines: Flattened against the dryer walls waiting to make a break for it. Thanks for stopping by!
Pull up a chair? Bickie? Beverage? I'm so glad you've stopped by. I hope you enjoy your stay. This little space celebrates the idea that the little things, the everyday things, are worth recording. It has comfortably settled itself into a blog about the everyday after I started a 365 Day photo challenge September of 2009 on Facebook. After beginning to blog, I transfered many of the photos here, where I have continued this daily challenge. My life is really not that interesting, but as I've looked for something to photograph each day, I've been able to find fun, joyful, meaningful things in the daily events that happen for all of us. It's fun keeping my eye open for little things that I never noticed were even worthy of record before. There is so much beauty out there if we keep an eye open to it.

Great post. thanks for visiting me. And i think they're having a party at night. breathing fresh air away from stinky feet and fragrant detergent...

ha ha ha... have you checked behind the living room curtains? (cheeky little buggers, where you least expect them, that's where they are hiding) ;)
