Day 148: Pretty random shtuff, but it might change your life.

I received this by email today:

"I am Barrister Simeon Puwadit, Attorney at law. A deceased client of mine, that shares the same last name as yours, who died as the result of a heart-related condition in March 12th 2005. I have contacted you to assist in distributing the money left behind by my client(US$19million dollars) is lodged in the bank.

Best Regard

Wow!  Where do I sign?  :oP

New birdies at the feeders today. They're so lovely!  Apparently, they're American Goldfinches.  A whole flock of them.  But they flew away.  Sigh.  Hopefully they'll come back soon.  Sweet little things.

******
And I'm going to share something with you that will change your life.  Seriously.

I had a hankering for beets today.  I dreamed about them last night. Rosy orbs of deliciousness.  So I sent hubs to the store to see if he could find some.  No, it wasn't a special trip. He was going already.  But if he HADN'T been going, I probably would have sent him out anyway, snowstorm forcasted or not.  But I digress.

SO...I peeled, sliced, steamed, and made a little orange sauce for them.  And they were everything I hoped they'd be and more.  And the picky eater liked them.  Ate them all up.  The nonpicky eater didn't like them.  But she ate them anyway, under duress.   I can't win both ways.

But here, I tell you, is going to change how you see chicken.  Seriously.  So good. And I'm not a big chicken fan.  A friend of mine gave me this recipe years ago.  I double it and put it in an airtight container.  It is a hubby favorite.  Ready?  Here it is:

2 cups flour
2 Tablespoons salt
1 Tablespoons celery salt
2 Tablespoons pepper
2 Tablespoons dry mustard
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon thyme
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon basil
2 Tablespoon paprika
1 Tablespoon sage.

Mix.  Put in airtight container.  Put some in a bag.  Dampen the chicken pieces with water or what have you.  Plop in the bag. Shake. Plop the chuk in a baking pan.  Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees.  Drool.

I just noticed the lovely shape of the list of ingredients as placed in centered position.  Looks kind of like a vase or something.

Here's a photo of our meal tonight:

Mmm, that does look yummy. Except for the beets. I've never been able to get into them. I don't know why. And those finches are adorable. Our cat used to leave them on the back deck for us to find, so I've seen many up close. I'm sure they're much prettier when they're actually still alive. :)

Uum that looks yummy and the birds are so pretty (how do they know to come to such a pretty feeder).

I want some Allegria:)

One year my folks got about thirty goldfinches who fed from their feeder daily for awhile...they were beautiful.

Priceless pictures and food - guess there must be a reason why animals did not invent money; in the end, it is mostly food, love and hope mankind needs, beautiful set in scene by you.
A wonderful Sunday for all of you.

Ah Tracy! The beets were really nice with the orange. But I won't hold you not liking them against you. I dislike olives. A lot. I'm lucky they even TALK to me in this house! LOL

oceangirl: We've had that feeder up for months, and very few birds. But wow! There were lots this day! But we haven't seen them since. :o( MIL gave us the feeder. I wouldn't have thought about putting up thistle, otherwise.

Suzicate: Do they usually just come and leave quickly? Did your parent's finches hang around for awhile? They are really pretty, aren't they?

Robert: Beautiful comment. Thank you so much.
