Day 114: American Girl

Brought Julia to the American Girl shop the other day, and had to take a picture of her bag this morning, before it got completely trashed.  What was in the bag?

Two books.

That's it.  No doll.  No clothes.  No accessories.  We held back remarkably well!!  And now Julia is all keen to get a doll when she's older.  Oops.

Frankly, so am I.  But don't tell anyone.

Wow, I really admire your restraint! I wish I'd had it when I was there...

Robert: Thanks! I can't wait until she's 10. hehe.

Maureen: And today we thought about how much we paid for the books, if you include parking in the cost. Erm...

Is that the doll that looks like the owner of the doll?

I know nothing about little girls!
(Except, I was one, of course!)

Kathryn: They do have look alike dolls--but there's another company that does a better job. American Girl showcases dolls to represent different time periods in Americans history. They're a big deal--wardrobes, furniture, books, movies. There's a hair salon and hospital at the store. The store also has life size displays representing each doll's home or school. Kind of like a mini museum. A starter kit, which is the doll and the clothes she wears? $115!!! Yipes! But they're gorgeous. Too much so, actually, for a 6 year old. She really likes the books, and enjoyed seeing the shop, but the visit was kind of bittersweet, because she really, really would like a doll now. Oops.
