Day 267: Bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy

Fun fun fun fun fun!

There was a cute little family event at a local playground/park today, so we headed over there for awhile this afternoon.  Yeah, they had some fun bands, including Tree, a local folk group that I really like.  But we spent most of our time at the bouncy thingies.  They had about six of them, all FREEEEE!!!  So the kids had a ball.  er...  WERE a ball...er

In any event, they had a great time.  But I'm afraid my photo today is less than stellar.  It's a typical snapshot, really.  I took another one the kids walking along holding hands.  All out of focus.  Grk. With only a 55 mm lens to bring with (OK--I have a 200, but unless I'm in another state, it's rather useless), it was point and shoot day at this event.  Which is OK--it's a good point and shoot with great zoom.  It's just...not my DSLR.  And it's busy in this shot.  Bleh.

The countdown begins to my NEW LENS, though. Hopefully within the next couple of weeks.  Fingers crossed and stars aligned.

Back to more interesting photos tomorrow.  You're probably getting tired of photos of the kids lately.  I'll find something else to shoot tomorrow, I promise.  But, as far as the challenge goes, this works.  It's a photo.  It's from today.

Check.

And why don't I have photos of Tree?  Because I couldn't stinkin' remember what TIME they played, and they didn't have schedule posted down at the park.  The event was great but is still small and in the throes of trying to figure itself out,  and obviously somebody didn't think about having schedules handy--at least not that I saw.  The band didn't play while we were there, and since I didn't know what time, we didn't hang around.  Sigh.  So we heard the River City Brass from the bouncies, which was fine.  They're a pretty good cover band.  And then some guy, not sure who, who sounded like he was making his music up as he went along, bless him.   But Tree wasn't until later on in the day.  So no trying my hand at making a person with their mouth wide open beltin' look good.

In other news:

Why, oh why, does the ad for Windows 7 about zombies crack me up like it does?

I've discovered that, although I just do not get football, I quite enjoy rugby.  These guys don't hide behind wimpy helmets and protective gear, and the play doesn't stop every 5 seconds.  Too bad Penn State lost.  Sigh.

What lens are you getting? I've been trying to afford the 80-200 Nikkor.

Hi, Dar. I have a Canon 50D (I'm thinking I should have purchased a Nikon, but didn't know any better at the time.) I'm getting an EF 24-70 f/2.8L A nice piece of glass.

Oh, and Dar--I have a kit 70-200 or some such thing, and it's way too long at its shortest range for my use. I'm constantly backing up into the next county. LOL I use it sometimes, even though it's not IS. Someday I'd like the 70-250 f/2.8L lens from Canon, but at $2500, it's not going to happen any time soon!
