Day 262: This kid...and other critters

Remember the "stuck" photo from the other day?  If so, then this will look familiar.  Same predicament.  Shortly therafter, the box became a shell, and she was a hermit crab.  Honestly, I've never had a hermit crab at the dinner table before.  The shell was a bit of a nuisance.  But necessary, I suppose.

And then I went out to fill the bird feeders and found THIS.  I am soooo not impressed.  Must have been done under cover of darkness, the stinker.  At least it can't get into the garden, due to preemptive measures.  Still--what a mess of the yard back there.  I guess I'll have to go out tomorrow, weather permitting, and shovel the mounds of dirt back into the hole and hope an angry groundhog doesn't come tearing out of there.  Grrr.

Two years ago, this was a teensy weensy little plant.  Now it has grown to a big beautiful bunch.

At least that's something.

Black eyed Susans take note.  THIS is how a perennial is supposed to behave.  I would appreciate your support this year.  Come ON now, you've been in there long enough--show your stuff!!

I'm still only enjoying peonies; you have real flowers! Your daughter is adorable, look at those eyes!

Maureen: I'm pretty happy with these little flowers this year. They're one of my few success stories in the flower department. BTW, there's a pot of oregano on my porch with your name on it. The Freecycler people didn't pick it up. You'll have to come and get it, though!
